Often, as I pray, kneeling before Mass, I close my eyes and envision Jesus, crowned with thorns, standing before me in white and golden vestments. We are together, in a darken room, almost a corridor of sorts, and I am staring at Him intently, longing for His forgiveness. I can see His thorns, prominently on top of His head , looking almost regal, like a mighty King. I can see His lips being swallowed up by His shaggy beard, and even His rough, wounded hands, but never can I see His eyes! His eyes are always covered by the shadows of the darken room, seeming to hide from me.
Why? Why did God have to take on flesh and dwell among us? Why did he have to suffer and die in order to redeem us? Answer, LOVE, a complete gift of self… it’s what the first Adam failed to do, and the last Adam did to perfection! Much of this talk is based upon Dr. Scott Hahn’s work in “First Comes Love”, and “A Father Who Keeps His Promises”. I would encourage you to read both of those books for MUCH more detail. The video & audio quality is not the best however, due to “user error”… I failed to record the audio… this is now the only copy I have of this talk given to the St. Thomas More Society at the University of Houston Law Center.
